Scott Field AirFest 2003

Transport Aircraft

There were a number of transport aircraft on display. Here's a C-130 Hercules.

Its tiny compared to the C-5 Galaxy. Note that the Galaxy opens from both ends - I walked through it from nose to tail.

Here's a C-17 Globemaster III. Another big plane.

The Russian AN-124 opens at both ends like the Galaxy, and claims to be the largest freighter in the world - able to carry a 120 ton payload in 1100 cubic meters of space. The third pic shows the ramp in the nose unfolding.
