Charbonier and More

7/24-25/04 was spent close to home - Jill and I wandered only a short way from Florissant.

Charbonier is a road from Florissant that leads to 370 and Earth City. There are a number of interesting things along that road. Its a good road.

We're not even there yet and there is corn. One row though just looks odd. Some people put up fences, these people put up corn. Its a midwest thing I guess. I don't get it - I'm a city boy.

There are several interesting side streets off of Charbonier to explore. Here's one.

It dead-ends at this path between the diamonds. Something to explore in the future...

There was a dove on the road here.

Continuing on, its still not far from the city, but it goes through fairly rural areas.

This part of the road can flood - the city boy thing again - city roads don't tend to have flood gauges on them. Just not used to this either.

St. Stanislaus Conservation Area is off of Charbonier. This part of it is very green.

This part is somewhat blueish.

Somone forgot some bits by the conservation area parking lot. You'd think they would have noticed.

A butterfly was also in the parking lot.

Lewis and Clark were here. They were everywhere.

Jill is pretty tall, but so is the grass here.

She insisted if a picture of her with grass went on this page, so should a picture of me.

Even taller grass, and the same rules apply.

Flower.

This gate won't be closing any time soon.

This appeared to technically be a levee.

Flower. Rose of Sharon?

Water.

Water. Fall.

A furry catepillar was crawling over the rocks. Was moving fast too.

That pole has been there a long time.

A very bouncy bridge. Note the cables that suspend it.

Why a bridge is needed.

One path ends at a creek.

Big spider.

Big tree.

Blue (!) persimmon with a green bug on it.

Road to darkness. We're going that way.

Continuing down Charbonier... A pig on a stick!

Mailboxes. Another pig.

We were planning on going to Illinois via a bridge down that way. Guess not right now - lets go elsewhere.

I don't know what an Ozark Pit BBQ is, but its right here.

NEXT - Confluence Park
