What I wanted to see first was the bluff overlook of the Meramec. The
trail climbs 250 feet to the top of the bluffs. Going up...

A fallen tree along the trail.

Here we go. That's what I was looking for. It bet it even looks
better in the summer when everything is green.

Along the river are railroad tracks. Union Pacific IIRC.

The roots of a couple of trees.

Next stop was to see the river up close. The trail map says its around
here somewheres...

Looks like even a couple patches of snow left in the shadows, though I haven't
seen any elsewhere for quite a few days.

Up close, the water is very clear.

Very quiet and peaceful - just hear the occasional bird. Its like people
never had been here.

Er... I guess there have been people after all.

The trail continues along the river. Close up its clear, but in the right light its very green.

A fallen tree along the trail.

I really do need to come back when there are some leaves on things.
