Hannibal, MO

On 6/5/04 Jill and I made a trip to Hannibal, MO, only about 250 miles round trip.

We went north on 79, a scenic road. We made a brief stop at the Winfield lock and dam, #25 on the Mississippi river. Note that its completely open.

Its definitely flooding here. Trees shouldn't come out of lakes like that.

Hand rails on paths also shouldn't go into lakes like that either.

Why its dangerous to smoke at a river I do not know.

Sandy Slough Rd., near the lock and dam. Guess I can't go that way.

A woodpecker in the V of the trunk of that tree.

Continuing on, a pulloff on the road also shows high water by a railroad track.

Going further, Louisiana, MO also had flooding (yes, that's a swing set), and some interesting industrial buildings.

Further north on 79 several turnoffs had scenic views. Here's one in the vicinity of Busch and Hope.

There was a neat looking butterfly there.
