Ohio River Scenic Byway

On 4/3/2004 Jill and I went to southern Illinois to see some of the stops on the Ohio River Scenic Byway in the Shawnee National Forest - 3 states, 475 miles and 13.5 hrs.

Rim Rock

Rim Rock was the first stop. There were already rocks right near the parking lot.

Its scenic.

There are several trails - this one is paved with stone.

An interesting tree.

Its still scenic.

There is a big broken rock here.

The trail goes down into the split in the rock.

Going down...

In the split. It twists and turns down here. Cool and wet too, like a cave.

Jill pointing. Good for scale - its a big rock.

The end of the crack leads to a trail that goes by the stream.

NEXT - High Knob
