Onandoga Cave

After some wandering in Fenton and west, we headed out to Onandoga Cave. Here's the visitor center.

The cave is large, interesting, and dark. We even saw bats. Here are "soda straws" developing on the ceiling.

Near a submerged cave entrance the concrete sides of a boat launch are starting to develop stalagmites.

Cave stuff.

Note the stone flowing out of the hole. Its called flowstone I think. I wonder why.

More cave stuff.

Tracy, our guide, points out some cave stuff.

Still more cave stuff.

The farthest point in on the tour is the lily pad room. Its worth the climb.

Yet more cave stuff.

Popcorn.
