Southwest Trip II

Start from STL

Jim Teresco and I left STL on Apr 27, 2004, on a trip that would eventually lead to Albuquerque, NM - 2585 miles by car in 6 days, plus a flight back to STL on day 7.

We started a bit after 8AM and it was 52 degrees.

Breakfast thanks to Jim.

Post-Dispatch employee protesters on Kingshighway.

Part of I-70 was slow in the city. Seems grass cutters found a body by the McKelvey exit and traffic was slow around the police cars.

There really isn't much to see on I-70. Expand this thumbnail and you'll get the feeling I had.

Nostalgiaville.

Yes, the town of Bachelor is 6 miles from here.

People in the midwest want to be elsewhere. Here's Mexico.

Something I find wierd with Missouri is the naming of roads by letters. Did they just run out of creativity somewheres along the line? Like I said, I-70 doesn't have much to look at, so I might as well look at signs.

Three different types of roads are here.

Crossing the Missouri.

Boonville, yes, probably for Daniel Boone.

There are a number of these sorts of places along I-70.

I guess the previous and this go together.

Lots and lots of this sort of thing along I-70 too.

...and this as well. Just not much out there.

Approaching Kansas City. Kauffman Stadium, home of the Royals.

There's Kansas City.

We want to go to Wichita. Last time I was here I went to St. Joseph.

This is probably interesting to see someday.
